Environmentally Friendly Investment in Akdeniz

Yıldız Entegre rolled up its sleeves for a new investment to be made at the Akdeniz Plant in Mersin. Within the scope of the new investment of approximately TRY 15 million, an area of 26,400 square meters will be covered with solar panels and carbon emissions equivalent to 11 thousand trees will be prevented. When the investment is completed, the facility will provide approximately 10 percent of its total electricity needs from solar energy.

A new one is being added to the increasing number of environmentally friendly industrial facilities in Türkiye in recent years... Yıldız Entegre, which operates in the field of forest products in Türkiye and is one of the 50 largest industrial companies in our country according to the latest data announced by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, has decided to start investing in solar energy at its Akdeniz Plant in Mersin. The investment, which is planned to start in the coming days, is expected to be completed within 6 months.

MORE THAN 13 THOUSAND SOLAR PANELS WILL BE INSTALLED

Within the scope of the investment plan of approximately TRY 15 million, an area of approximately 26,400 square meters in the production facility will be covered with more than 13 thousand solar panels. When the investment is completed, the facility will provide approximately 10 percent of its total electricity needs from solar energy. On the other hand, in case of possible maintenance work or malfunctions at the facility, the electricity generated from the solar panels will be fed into the general grid, contributing to Mersin's economy.

Commenting on the matter, Yıldırım Akagündüz, Investment Projects Manager at Yıldızlar Investment Holding, stated that energy resources are becoming increasingly scarce and said, "In recent years, there has been an intense interest in renewable energy sources in our country. It is a fact that our country is dependent on foreign countries for energy resources such as oil and natural gas. However, Türkiye has a very serious potential especially in wind and solar energy. In this context, especially the orientation of industrial companies towards renewable energy sources will both contribute greatly to the protection of nature and the environment and will shed light on the future goals of our country's economy."

WE WILL BENEFIT MORE FROM SOLAR ENERGY

Pointing out that the investment to be realized at the Akdeniz Plant in Mersin is Yıldız Entegre's first investment in this field, Yıldırım Akagündüz said, "Our primary goal in making this investment is to reduce our dependence on conventional energy sources and to obtain energy input in a more environmentally friendly and eco-friendly way. To the extent permitted by legal regulations, similar projects for our plants with high solar energy efficiency will be on our agenda in the coming period."

The Akdeniz Plant, one of the four production centers of Yıldız Entegre, one of Türkiye's leading companies in the field of forest products, also stands out as one of the largest investments in Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone. Strengthening Yıldız Entegre's position in the domestic market, the Akdeniz Plant also contributes to the company's export strength with its proximity to the Middle East and North African markets. The facility, built on approximately 240 thousand square meters of land, has a daily production capacity of 1,500 cubic meters of MDF, MDFlam, laminate flooring, front panels, impregnated paper and glue.
