One of Türkiye's Largest Solar Power Plants Started Operations at Yıldız Entegre Mersin Plant

Yıldız Enerji, operating under the umbrella of Yıldızlar Investment Holding, completed its first investment. As part of the 20 million TRY investment, the roof of Yıldız Entegre Akdeniz facility was covered with more than 13 thousand solar panels. Thus, one of Türkiye's largest rooftop solar power plants was realized in Mersin.

Yıldızlar Investment Holding, one of Türkiye's leading industrial groups, leads the industry in environmentally friendly and renewable energy projects through its subsidiary Yıldız Enerji. Despite all the negativities of the pandemic period, Yıldız Enerji managed to complete the rooftop solar power plant, which it started last year, on schedule.

13 THOUSAND SOLAR PANELS WERE USED

Within the scope of the project, solar panels were installed on the roof of Yıldız Entegre, a subsidiary of Yıldızlar Investment Holding, at its environmentally sensitive Akdeniz plant in Mersin. Within the scope of the investment of approximately 20 million TRY, an area of 26,400 square meters was covered with more than 13 thousand solar panels. Thus, one of Türkiye's largest rooftop solar power plants was realized in Mersin.

EQUIVALENT TO 11 THOUSAND TREES PER YEAR

While it is planned to prevent carbon emissions equivalent to 11 thousand trees per year with this work, approximately 10 percent of the total electricity need of the Akdeniz plant will be provided by solar energy thanks to the investment. On the other hand, in case of possible maintenance work or malfunctions to be carried out at the facility, the electricity generated from the solar panels will be fed into the general grid, thus boosting the regional economy.
