Buildings that Respect Rich Nature

Moscow, which is rich in greenery, also supports this richness with buildings that adapt to nature. According to a study conducted by the US Forest Service and published by the British newspaper The Guardian, Moscow is second only to New York in terms of urban tree cover. As a model for many big cities in terms of creating a natural environment, Moscow continues to take steps for the future by building on what it has achieved so far.

Within the borders of the city, structures built using wood materials are frequently visible. In order to prevent the rapidly increasing carbon emissions due to the effects of global warming, individual housing projects as well as corporate projects are increasingly turning towards nature.

One of these projects is N.N Residence... Realized by Berlin-based J. Mayer. H Architecture based in Berlin and Alexander Erman Architecture & Design based in Moscow, the project was designed as a detached house for a family. The house, built with a suitable architectural understanding in order to harmonize with its surroundings, attracts a lot of attention from the outside.

Aiming to soften the sharp boundaries between the built environment and the landscape, the building is positioned in accordance with the topography with an organic form. The building, which has been specially designed to perfectly adapt to the area it is located in and to make contact with nature, also draws attention with its detailed landscape planning.

If you decide to follow the forests of Moscow out of the city, you will come across a black structure in the greenery. Realized by the Russia-based architectural office Archslon, Black Villa was designed by taking formal inspiration from the geographical structure of Russia. The building is designed to have a minimal impact on the forest in which it is located.

The compact shape and height of the building is emphasized as an important decision to avoid damaging trees during construction. Thanks to the glass in the ceiling, the building can be illuminated with rich daylight, helping to create a strong connection between the house and the forest.

In addition to new buildings in Moscow that respect the environment and are built with minimal interference with nature, buildings built with natural building techniques and materials have also survived to the present day. Over 150 buildings built using forest products have survived to the present day. Built in the 18th and 19th centuries using wood materials, all the buildings are under the protection of the authorities.

Moscow is likely to continue to set an example for all big cities by continuing to invest in the future with its respect for nature and the projects it develops accordingly.
