Russia, the largest country in the world in terms of area, is in a different position from other countries with its natural features. The country consists of forested areas and green plains rather than mountains and hills. Russia ranks first in the list of countries with the most forested areas in the world.

The vast majority of Russia's land is not suitable for agriculture, and forests make up about half of its total surface area. Moscow, the capital city, is rich in green spaces. The city is surrounded by parks and forests that are frequently visited by people.

Air pollution is a challenge for Moscow, as it is for any metropolis. The city has vast forests and beautiful parks, but continues to work harder to reduce carbon emissions. New parks are being built in appropriate parts of the city, sidewalks are decorated with new saplings and asphalt pavements are being replaced with cobblestones.

In Russia, which has the world's largest forested areas, the vegetation cover varies significantly from north to south. Extensive tundra is followed by taiga forests and black forests. Located in the southwest of the country, Moscow is dominated by the black forest belt.

Moscow's more than 120 parks and gardens offer spectacular views. Losiny Ostrov National Park, located within the city limits, is just one of them. The park, where you have the chance to observe many animals including birds, reptiles, and even deer in their natural habitat, is a must-see.

Sokolniki Park, located close to the city center, is known for promising various entertainments especially for children. The park, which includes many restaurants, exhibitions, and concert venues, is seen as a center of attraction for those living in the city. The park offers a visual feast to its visitors with its tree varieties such as pine, spruce, birch, oak, and linden.

Apart from these, Gorky Park, named after the famous Russian writer Maxim Gorky, Izmaylovsky Park, one of the largest parks in Moscow and located in the northeast of the city, Serebryany Park, located in a protected area, Kuzminki Park, which used to belong to Russian nobility, and Bitsa Park, which is home to more than 500 species of plants, are noteworthy places to see throughout the city.

Moscow, one of the world's greenest metropolises, will continue to set an example for other cities for the future with its natural parks and forests and environmentally sensitive projects.
